Drunken Grapes - The Verdict

Drunken Grapes

Delicious!

My friend Brenda came over with her daughters for a playdate, and while the kiddos played, the mommies had their own version of a playdate - we made drunken grapes!

These were super fast - and easy - to make. Here's what we did:

To make appx. 50 of these, you will need:
3 cups of bourbon
12 oz goat cheese
1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
About 50 grapes
Toothpicks

We used green grapes, like in the picture, but I've seen this recipe made with purple grapes too, and I imagine they would be just as good!

Soak the grapes in 3 cups of bourbon for at least a couple of hours, up to overnight. Personally, I thought the grapes from overnight were too strong - hello!! The grapes that soaked for a couple of hours had just the right amount of bourbon flavor, without being overpowering.

Here comes the messy part: making the goat cheese balls. It may not seem like enough cheese, but you want the cheese balls to be the same size as the grapes you're using. Trust me- it'll be just the right amount. After forming the balls, just put them on a cookie sheet until you're ready to coat them with walnuts.

We found the easiest approach to coat the cheese balls was to put the walnuts in a bowl, and use a spoon to roll them in the nuts. Then, pick up the cheese ball and gently press more walnuts into the cheese. Make sure the nuts have been chopped finely enough that you get a good coating.

When you're ready to assemble, the grape goes first, then the walnut coated cheese ball. You'll have to be a little careful during this part because the walnut covered cheese balls will be a bit fragile and can fall apart on ya. This is why I said you get "approximately 50." But don't worry, the ugly ones still tasted great!

Finally, arrange however you like on a platter and serve. These taste the best at room temperature.

Here's how ours turned out-

Enjoy!
