Drunken Gummy Bears

A little something to tide you over until I post the results of this week's poll!

One of my first Pinterest finds was drunken gummy bears. All I saw was this picture of gummy bears in a tupperware, sitting next to a half empty bottle of vodka, and I thought SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!

We were going to a friend's house the following week for a Super Bowl party, and I thought it would be the perfect time to try them. Here's how I did it:

Get a large bag of gummy bears – I’ve heard this works with sugar free ones too, but I just got the regular ones.

Empty them into a large bowl and cover them with vodka (I used pineapple vodka because it’s what I had on hand, but you can use any kind). You can use more or less depending on how strong you want them, but I used about ½ of a bottle. If you use less, be sure to add enough juice to cover the bears.

Stir, then cover and put in the fridge. You’ll need to stir them a couple of times a day to prevent them from sticking to each other. Also remember to keep them covered.

About 3 days in, I added some fresh pineapple juice (½ cup or so) to cut the vodka taste a little, but this is not necessary. If you choose to do this, you can use any juice.

Keep them covered and continue to stir twice a day for a total of 7 days.

Voila, you’ve got drunken gummy bears!

Here's a tip:
The only thing I would have done differently is I would have taken them out of the fridge on day 6 and spread them out in a single layer on a cookie sheet to “dry out” a for a day before serving.

Enjoy!
